Only on the corners where you plan to connect the positive and negative wires add a backing nut for strength just before the end of the bolt passes through the last hole. This can be tightened against the plates as the nut on the other side is tightened down on the connecting wire. This will prevent possible stripping of the threads in the plate causing the gap to change drastically.
